Girl group members with the best vocals

A recent ranking of the girl group members with the best vocal talent has become a hot topic. On an online community board, a post titled, “Ranking of girl group idols with the best vocal talent” was shared. The topic received attention because it was claimed that three professional experts in the music field personally participated in ranking the female idols with the best vocal talent.

The released report was done in a systematic format with detailed scoring and a variety of aspects were taken into account. The ranking was based on television and radio appearances, stage presence such as ability to express the lyrics, pitch, voice stability, breathing, and groove. The ranking wasn’t only based on their vocal talent, but also those that could best express the music in their own style and also the style within their respective groups. And the final result?
1. Hyorin (Sistar)
2. Lee Hae Ri (Davichi)
3. Jea (Brown-eyed Girls)
4. IU ( although not a girl group member)
5. Taeyeon (Girls' Generation)

After seeing the ranking, netizens commented, I somewhat agree with this ranking,It seems like a very detailed systematic analysis" , "I totally agree with this ranking <3 Even though there are other great singers too, I think those 5 are wonderful" .

People have different opinions so let's not go cursing and hating on this ranking. I have my own personal favorites as well but I still think this was a really great tally. Hyorin and Jea really deserved their places. Let's just continue the support, people. Spread the love.

Block B's never-ending controversy and apology

ALLKPOP
By now, anyone who’s a fan of K-pop is aware of 7-member idol group Block B. One of the boys’ interviews which took place in Thailand January 30th has stirred major controversy, and the boys have been receiving slanderous remarks from the public and the media alike.

The most sarcastic of remarks said, “They sure did their noise marketing properly,” deeply upsetting the members and their agency. When Star In caught up with Block B backstage at Mnet‘s ‘M! Countdown‘, all the members wore long faces. When approached for an interview, their manager denied the request. Instead, Star In met with a high ranking representative from their agency to ask a few questions.

Did you neglect to act upon the situation, knowing what happened?
Not at all. I didn’t know at first because I didn’t travel with them to Thailand for the interview, but I was shocked upon seeing the fans’ criticisms. We were going to release an official apology on the 20th, but the controversy had already caught fire by the 19th. The attacks coming at us were so uncontrollable we didn’t know how to control the situation at hand. We got one step behind, and after that, everything got really difficult.

Are you saying that this is unfair?
No. We deserve to be criticized, 100%. I am responsible as well. The apology statement was typed online after the members personally wrote it by hand. The Block B members were heavily disciplined and they learned a hard lesson. But to see the netizens’ comments be turned into news articles without proof or confirmation was really hurtful.

There are netizens saying you sought revenge against Nichkhun who started this problem.
What kind of revenge would a small company like ours be able to seek against JYP Entertainment? And if we did try to bring down Nichkhun, do you think it would work? We’re actually quite thankful to Nichkhun. It’s only natural for him to become upset and criticize our wrongdoing, and he did his part by asking fans to refrain from attacking Block B. He said that he hoped the boys had learned through this mistake, and if it weren’t for Nichkhun, this could’ve gotten more out of hand. We are grateful for his understanding nature.

How are the Block B members?
They are extremely panicked and worried. They’re about to step on stage right now, but they aren’t themselves. I’m just worried that they might have had suicidal thoughts. The boys were only focused on wanting to stand out and be noticed, and they were a little thoughtless. But the boys aren’t stupid, they did not have ill intent when they said the things they did. A part of me is relieved. They are being disciplined well while they are still young. They are reflecting on their actions in remorse, so much to the point they probably wish they’d never been born.

When will you personally apologize to the Thai citizens?
Like I said, we got one step behind trying to deal with all of the criticism and attacks, and we lost the right timing. Anything we say now is going to sound like an excuse. And it’s not like we can go to Thailand because we want to and immediately apologize, there are orders and principles to how things go about. We are discussing many different routes we can take. We should have something official by next week. And of course, we will also be visiting Thailand.

Is there anything you would like to request?
We’ve hit rock bottom in despair. We were wrong, and we deeply apologize. The Block B members and myself are extremely repentant. I think this incident will be an opportunity for the boys to become a little more mature. I hope that you guys will give the boys a chance to learn from their mistakes. If you want to further reprimand us, I will gladly receive the punishment. It is all my fault. Reprimand if you must, but know that the boys are being genuine. These kids are younger than you think. I hope you will be a little understanding.

Ahead of this interview, Block B’s agency Brand New Stardom stated that “all the members are deeply repentant,” and posted personally hand-written apology letters on their official fan cafe.

In related news, the group  have released another apology today, this time in the form of a video on their YouTube page with subtitles in Korean, Thai, and English. The boys’ remorse and pain are visible on their faces as they apologize once again to the people of Thailand, and bow to show their sincerity.

“We are very sorry for the things that happened in Thailand recently. The fact that we didn’t think that our actions and damage [to] the Thai people was very stupid and embarrassing and we don’t know how to ask for your forgiveness.

We acknowledge that we made a hasty judgment of the atmosphere of the location and that was very selfish and we are greatly sorry. We never meant to hurt anyone but it was childish and we are very sorry for causing harm. I know we can’t stand before you right now and we hope you will watch the change in our actions and in us. We will carefully look back at ourselves, learn and improve. Again, we would like to bow our heads and apologize.”

Although it seems clear that the boys never intended to offend anyone, it seems their actions are seen as unforgivable by many. Petitions have been going around insisting on Block B’s retirement and blocking their appearances from broadcasts, and have gained 10,000 signatures so far.

However, there are also plenty who sympathize with the boys and have been speaking out against these petitions, especially after seeing how truly sorry the boys were and realizing that they had never intended any harm – since part of Block B’s charm lies in their carefreeness.

The boys have already written apologies, bowed 90 degrees on their latest music show appearance, and Zico shaved his head in remorse.

K-pop star shaves head

Korean boy band Block B's leader, Zico, apologized and shaved his head to show his remorse over the insensitive comments the band had made about Thailand's flood situation during an earlier media conference in Thailand, reported Korean media.

When asked by the Thai media about their thoughts on the flooding in Thailand, Zico said he hoped to help the Thai people with monetary aid, but later said he only had 7000 won (S$8). His fellow members laughed at Zico's jest, however, many who saw the video clip of the interview, which has since gone viral, felt that it is no laughing matter and found Block B's comments to be highly insensitive.

Zico is not the only one who has since worked toward making amends - each member of Block B had also written a letter to apologize for behaving badly during that media conference.

This is apparently not the first time that Block B is in trouble after making insensitive comments - Block B was also criticized for being insensitive about the tsunami situation in Japan last year.

"Right now there's a tsunami raging outside. We will sweep over here (Japan) like a tsunami," said Block B's member Park Kyung in Korean, while other members made waves-like motions with their hands and laughed.

The translator had wisely opted to leave out the tsunami comments from his translations as Japan was still dealing with the aftermath of a tsunami at the time.

Nickhun reacts to Thai flood jokes

2PM member Nichkhun had some harsh words for new hip-hop group Block B, which got itself into trouble for making jokes about the Thai floods during a recent visit to the Southeast Asian country.

Block B made the jokes in an interview with Thai website RYT9. When the reporter mentioned the recent floods in Thailand, which left hundreds homeless, group members used the opportunity to joke around. "People in Thailand must be devastated due to the flood but I really wish we can just use money to patch things up. I mean that’s all I really have. And how much do they even need? Like $7?
" leader Zico commented.

The video has inspired a wave of criticism from Thai and Korean netizens and prominent K-pop artists since it began circulating on Sunday. Nichkhun said on Twitter that he was offended by the comments: "As a person of Thai descent, I'm offended by the careless remarks about the Thai floods. Instead of waltzing in arrogantly when visiting another country, you should be humble and have some manners."

Block B members personally left messages of apology on their fan cafés but it did not pacify the situation at all. Seeing this reacon, Nichkhun tweeted again “Please, don’t say things like ‘wish someone would die’ but hope they would learn. Like we all do, like I did from my own mistakes.” Nichkhun asked netizens to hold off on the criticisms and that he just wished for the members to learn from their mistakes.

Thailand is not the only country where the group has made culturally insensitive remarks.
In another interview with a Japanese media outlet that has surfaced online, the band joked that "Like the typhoon that happened in Japan, we will also sweep the country clean."

Super Junior in Singapore

Back in Singapore for their Super Junior World Tour Super Show 4, the Korean boy band showed up at the press conference before the start of their show, donning their first costume of the night. The nine members -- Leeteuk, Yesung, Shindong, Sungmin, Siwon, Eunhyuk, Donghae, Ryeowook and Kyuhyun -- shared with local press what their most memorable moments in town were.

"We've been here many times, but we still feel that this is a beautiful place. We really want to travel here, not for shows, but to really tour," said Leeteuk. The leader added that the group loved the pepper crabs here so much, that they hoped to bring the local delicacy back to Korea.

In an exclusive email interview with xinmsn before the lads' arrival in town, Leeteuk also mentioned that they "always have good memories in Singapore, because the fans always welcome us and meet us whenever we visit."

Members of Super Junior have always been comfortable in their own skins, but if there was one member he could be for a day, funnyman Shindong would like to be Ryeowook. "I really envy the clear voice he has, when he sings. He's also been working out lately, so I'm also jealous of the prominent abs he now has," Shindong explained. When asked which was the best solo performance staged by the Super Junior members, the 27-year-old felt that it was definitely Eunhyuk and Donghae's collaboration Oppa, Oppa. He further explained, "Oppa means big brother in Korean, a term which a girl uses to call her older brother. Korean guys become very happy when they hear this word."

Eunhyuk then shared that his favourite songs out of all the albums the group had produced is 'Superman', because of its lyrics. "Our scale is the best, everything has to be the best", he said. Sungmin also chose 'Believe' as his favourite song in the email interview, because of its beautiful melody.

Compared to the last Super Show, Super Junior Super Show 4 is touted as a 'world tour' this time. Leeteuk answered for the group again, saying that they are glad to have the chance to see their fans outside of Asia, and will be visiting countries in the north and south Americas, as well as Europe. In his parting message to the local fans, he said, "We cannot visit Singapore as often as we wish we could, but we're always grateful and thankful for the fans' support. I may be entering the army soon, but the rest of my members will continue (our activities) and I'll join them once I finish my national service. We'll definitely return for another show, please look forward to that." The humble leader also thanked the media for always giving them promotion and "writing all those awesome articles".

Siwon then ended the press conference, sharing the group's wish for the year. "We've always wanted to be a group that spreads happiness to the fans, and anyone who listens to our songs. We'll definitely work harder to achieve that," he said.

Wonder Girl Sunye's boyfriend

Love love love. And what's more special about this love is that the lady is a world idol from a popular group in South Korea with fans who can be amazingly crazy, mean and insensitive at certain times. Her name is Min Sunye, and she's the beautiful leader of Wonder Girls.

Late last year, this gorgeous lady boldly revealed her relationship status via "Strong Heart" and asked fans to support and be happy for her. It is no surprise how idols cannot just simply date publicly in South Korea, therefore, Sunye's revelation became a hot topic even to netizens online, thus creating quite a buzz in the Korean entertainment world. There were mixed reactions and emotions, but brave Sunye stood up for her conviction and right now, is obviously very happy about it. And what's even more charming about their relationship is that they both are very active missionaries and are very religious.

These are just some of the couple's photos posted online. I know you're thinking "Why the heck are you posting these pictures when we can easily google them?". It's understandable. It is just hard not to share these lovely photos from two brave persons who did one very brave thing: fall in love.

Cute couple indeed! I only hope this revelation becomes a trend for those idols who just want to date freely and happily.

Who would have thought that the five-day vacation of Korean power group 2ne1 in the Philippines could give excitement even to the immortals? Throughout their stay, Sandara Park kept fans updated by posting photos of their activities in Manila and Albay.

In a translation by oh-dara.com and @WeLoveDara on Twitter, Sandara wrote, “At the resort during our last night… I had our dinner table set by the pool, and then invited the members and staff to eat. It was just us then.. We were eating food, talking to each other, and taking pictures, we were resting leisurely when all of the sudden, there was a light shower and we all ran off to our rooms in a hurry. This photo is a selca taken by one of our staff, however..!

She then uploaded a cropped version of the photo.

She added, “Now! Let us zoom in on that photo and take a look! We can clearly see that it’s a form of a long-haired woman, wearing a one-piece dress.. But at that time, at that place, there was really no one else there. Although it looks like a person, but I really don’t think it’s a person. Really.. What is the real identity..? I’ll just leave this for everyone’s imagination.. There are things in this world that people aren’t able to explain though.

The photos drew more than 2,000 comments on her me2day account.

"My friends have arranged for a dinner date [on Valentine's Day], but they refuse to tell me who is going to show up when I asked them.

Super Junior sets record for longest running concert

Popular Korean boy group Super Junior drenched themselves to thank fans as they set a record for longest running concert at 270 minutes.

Breaking the overseas artist's record of having four shows at the Taipei Dome, with the final show stretching over four-and-a-half hours, when leader Leeteuk saw the sea of colored ribbons, he finally broke down on stage. Super Junior played to their heart's content on stage, and the members were even drenched at the end, but regardless of how reluctant the fans were at leaving or how long they persist in shouting 'encore', the Taiwan stop of Super Show 4 still had to come to a close. However, they have already made a great amount of irreplaceable memories with all of the group members.

On the fourth performance at the Taipei Dome, the Super Junior members did not show a single hint of being exhausted. They did their best (in performing), and for the sake of their fans, Kyuhyun and Ryeowook were the ones responsible to head down the stage in order to pick lucky fans to go on stage on the final day. SiwonSiwon is very rich, he has an airplane". Nevertheless, he did not expect that the fan that he picked liked Eunhyuk instead, causing a huge commotion on stage.  protested and said that he was lonely as a result of that, and he also searched for another lucky fan by himself. The members around him laughed and said that, "

As for the solo segments on the final day, Zhou Mi switched songs and performed "Not Leaving Memories" for the first time, hitting the high notes in the song. Meanwhile, Henry opted to play the guitar and sang to the tune of "Confession", of which was written by himself. These were both surprise numbers which have been prepared specially for the Taiwanese concert.

At the end of the concert, under the coaxing of group leader Leeteuk, all of the members were drenched by the water fountains. Not only did the outfits of a large number of members become a see-through outfit, Siwon even went topless and elicited shrill screams from the entire venue. Super Junior has set the record of having the longest-running solo concert among overseas artists, clocking 270 minutes for the final stage.

After ending all four of their shows, Super Junior is expected to leave Taiwan in order to prepare for their concert in Singapore next week.

"Many people like Lin Chi Ling" - Jerry Yan

Last week, Taiwanese actor Jerry Yan made a special appearance at the celebration party of movie Black & White, Episode 1: Dawn of Assault, to show his support for his mentor, director Tsai Yueh-Hsun. Not only did he steal the limelight from lead actor Mark Chao, Jerry was always seen by the director's side, and had his arms around the latter's shoulders.

After two hours, Tsai, who could not hold his liquor, became drunk. Jerry then turned his attention to model Tang Guo Zhong, a friend whom he had known for 10 years. The two chatted through the night and left the party together when it ended. When Jerry and Guo Zhong noticed that reporters were trailing their car, they asked a friend, who was on a motorcycle, to help make way for them.

However, the two actors later decided to stop their vehicle for a quick interview. When asked if he was afraid that the rumour mill will spin about his close relationship with Tsai, Jerry explained that the director was merely concerned about his hand injury.

Last year, it was reported that Jerry had fractured his finger and might end up with a crooked finger, if he did not undergo surgery. Healso indirectly admitted that ex-lover Lin Chi-ling had asked after his injury, when he replied, "Many friends showed their concern during the Lunar New Year."

One reporter then probed if his New Year resolution was to marry Chi-Ling, to which Jerry jokingly said that he would have to talk about it to the reporter in private. However, the actor complimented Chi-ling, saying, "I think she's a good girl. I also think that there are many people who like her."
