Super Junior "We're here to stay"

Marriage and military service loom, but won’t break up the band

Super Junior, the Korean super group founded in 2005, had some major changes to its lineup last year, but its fifth anniversary year looks like it will be another successful one for the group, which is one of the largest boy bands in the world. Last month, when Super Junior released its fourth full-length album, it sold 100,000 copies in the first week after its release on April 13. Industry experts expect the album, titled “Bonamana,” will surpass the group’s previous sales record, achieved with its third album “Sorry Sorry.” That album sold 250,000 copies and topped the album sales chart when it was released in March last year.

At a time when other groups such as Girls’ Generation are eschewing the regular full-length CD format in favor of mini albums, digital albums and other kinds of special albums, that’s quite a feat. Despite their success, the up-and-coming idol group has struggled this year. Three of the band’s members - Han Geng, Kang-in and Kibum - left the group during the recording period. In the coming year, the band is facing new challenges, with marriage and military service looming on the horizon.

In a recent interview with 10 of the band’s 13 members, however, the boys seemed committed to staying together for years to come, no matter what life may throw their way.

What has made you such a strong group over the past five years?
Heechul: We really talk a lot. If there are problems, we talk until they are resolved. Lack of communication always creates problems.

It must have been difficult for you to make the new album without the three other members of the band.
Sungmin: We felt pressure taking their places, but it has also given us an opportunity to think about how important each member of the band is.

What do the three other members think about the new song “Bonamana”?
Leeteuk: Kang-in said the group’s dance moves are awesome and Kibum said he was sorry that I have to fill the space he left.

The choreography for the song is pretty impressive.
Eunhyuk: The dance moves were created by American choreographer Nick Bass, who was inspired by figure skating and short track skating.

Many people have said the title song for the current album is very similar to the group’s previous hit song “Sorry Sorry.”
Leeteuk: Maybe that’s because the new song is so characteristic of what we do and that’s what makes people think that Sorry Sorry and the new song are alike. I think that criticism like that is better than nothing because it shows that Bonamana has made an impression on the public.

Heechul: For me, the criticism is flattering because it is a sign that we’ve found our signature sound. In fact, Leeteuk and I didn’t like the idea of [Bonamana] as the title song because we didn’t think the electronic sound represented us. But after recording it and practicing the dance moves, I’ve changed my mind. I think the song suits us.

Shindong proposed to his girlfriend [in a numerical code] in the liner notes and his actions have since become the talk of the town. What’s happening with that?
Shindong: I was thinking about decoding it for the public after the album was released but my fans have already decoded it. I haven’t heard from my girlfriend since I popped the question, but if she says yes, I want to get married as soon as possible.

Do you think you will still perform as Super Junior even if some of you get married?
Heechul: It’s our goal to keep singing and dancing as Super Junior when we are 30 and 40, even after marriage and our military service.

Do you have any secrets for keeping fit?
Yesung: Siwon always inspires us. Now we’re in a kind of competition [to build muscles.]

Jerry Yan "I am the worst F4 member"

Earlier, Ken Zhu wrote on his Weibo that he was a pig with no ambitions, and was asked by the ringmaster to join the circus. He even compared F4 to a circus, and said that he wasn't a greedy person, and wouldn't wish for a specific high ranking in the circus. He also believed that out of the four men, he had the worst career. Jerry Yan, in a recent interview in Mainland China, said "The one with the worst career should be me, because I was the most childish, and kept messing things up."

Before they officially started on their solo careers, there were already rumours that F4 was going to disband. After going on their separate roads, they have still kept in contact privately. Jerry supported his fellow members, feeling that Ken was a really nice person, used to taking care of others. Although Ken was younger than Jerry, Ken was like the big brother in the group, and would cook dinner for Jerry when Jerry visited his house. Jerry said, these past 10 years, his character changed the most, because he was very insolent in the past, and didn't care about other's feelings.

Jerry said that acting mature is related to the environment one grows up in. "Since I was little, I was always the class president, so I got to command everyone else. I rarely cared about what others thought or wanted." After he became famous, the days of ordering everyone around were over. Once, when he was backstage in the resting room, a certain big card actor arrived, and Jerry was asked to leave the rest room so that they could use it. At the time, everyone including Jerry, thought that actor was showing off their rank, but now, the mature Jerry believes that perhaps there was some miscommunication going on.

Jerry reveals that he would like to date a normal, filial girl, and when Lin Chi Ling was brought up, he only commented "She's an old friend that I haven't been in contact with for a while." Actually, although the pair looks distant, they are actually very close. Both of them want an opportunity to show their skills, and for Jerry, he wants to act as a soldier who is in the middle of gunfire in the movie "Assembly". "Pin Xiao Gang (the director) doesn't have to ask me, I will beg him for a role." Jerry really wants a role with substance, to show that he doesn't only know how to act in idol dramas.

Leeteuk voted as artist with BEST leadership

Bugs Music recently conducted a poll from June 14th to June 21st with the question: Which of these artists has the best leadership? The poll had a total of 4,780 votes and Super Junior’s Leeteuk came out on top.

The results were: 1) Super Junior’s Leeteuk (58% – 2760 votes) 2) SS501’s Kim Hyun Joong (22% – 1019 votes) 3) Big Bang’s TOP (8% – 350 votes) 4) CNBLUE’s Jung Yong Hwa (301 votes) 5) Hot Potato’s Kim C (242 votes) 6) MBLAQ’s Lee Joon (80 votes)

( For some odd reason they replaced Big Bang’s leader G-Dragon with TOP and MBLAQ’s leader Seung Ho with Lee Joon ) Many people stated that it’s amazing how Leeteuk is in charge of 12 members and the group is already on their 4th album. He’s a very caring person who takes care of and looks after his younger group mates.

YIPPPEEEE!!!
Teukie deserved it, VERY MUCH! I have nothing against other leaders, and I'm saying this not just as a fan. I believe that taking care of 12 members with really different personalities is never easy. And keeping the group together amidst never-ending controversies is the hardest. Teukie endures it all, even sacrificing for them. I'm truly happy that he got this acknowledgment. Eternal leader, FIGHTING!

'GLEE' Exclusive: Charice is joining the cast!

Stop me if you've heard this one before: Charice is joining Glee.
No, really this time!

When that rumor began to spread earlier this month via her loose-lipped manager, Charice herself shot it down via Twitter. "I just want to let you all know, that it's not true that I'm going to be on Glee," she said.

Well, it's true now! Sources confirm to me exclusively that the international pop star is signed, sealed, and delivered to recur next season as a foreign exchange student whose killer vocals get Rachel (Lea Michele) contemplating murder.

Not literally, mind you.
So what do you think?

Glee Girls, Lock Up Your Men! Pop Star Charice Is Coming
Today 11:40 AM PDT by Kristin Dos Santos

Sources confirm pop star Charice is coming to Glee this fall in a recurring role.
So who will she be playing? What's the Shannon Elizabeth connection? And what's the latest on those Justin Timberlake rumors?

I'm told Charice will play a foreign exchange student (just reported by EW) with an ah-mazing singing voice--who will catch the eye of at least one Glee boy (shades of S.E. in American Pie), and the stank eye of one Ms. Rachel Berry (Lea Michele).

Meanwhile, we're told there is "nothing to report" regarding rumors that that other singing sensation you may have heard of, Justin Timberlake, will be coming on the show--at least not yet. Multiple cast members--including Lea, Jenna Ushkowitz and even his doppelganger Matthew Morrison--have told me they'd love to have his sexy back on for a M.M./J.T. dance-off, so keep those fingers crossed.

Now, start your betting. Which guy will catch Charice's eye? And what are we gonna do about it?

Meet the New Star of Glee!
Teenage pop star Charice has enrolled at William McKinley High School! On the next season of Glee, all star Rachel Berry (Lea Michele) will be pitted against a new foreign exchange student for the role of #1 diva! EW reports that international singing sensation Charice has signed on to play New Directions newest member and Rachel's main competition in season 2.

After proving that she has what it takes to perform solos, Charice will become Rachel's nemesis. Not that we don't love hearing Rachel sing, but it would be nice to watch her face some serious competition. Time to get excited Gleetards!

Not just any pop star could out sing Lea Michele, so the producers must be very confident in Charice's abilities. Oprah Winfrey even called the 18-year-old the most talented girl in the world.

This time it's for real: Charice is joining Glee
SOPHIA M. DEDACE, GMANews.TV

After the fiasco last month, Filipino international pop singer Charice Pempengco is officially set to join the Season 2 of the vastly popular American television series, Glee.

On Tuesday, Charice posted on her Twitter account: "It's official. I'm on Glee (next season) but story behind it. When [the] rumor came out, it wasn't true." The 18-year-old singer was referring to a premature report last month that said she would be joining Glee. Her local manager, Grace Mendoza, had confirmed to the Philippine Daily Inquirer that Charice would join Glee but the singer and her mother Raquel denied the report.

On Tuesday, Charice said she tried to audition for the show and got accepted following the incident. "And i made it!!! Let's Party!!!!" Charice did not indicate whether she would be part of the regular cast or would have a guest stint in the next season. Singers Josh Groban and Olivia Newton-John were featured as celebrity guests in the previous season of the hit TV series.

Charice was a runner-up at a singing contest in 2005. Her performances later became YouTube sensations, prompting American television show hosts Ellen DeGeneres and Oprah Winfrey to notice her. Her rise to popularity soon followed. In May this year, her self-titled album ranked eighth in the Billboard Top 200. Charice has been tapped to sing the Philippine national anthem during the inauguration of President-elect Benigno Aquino III on June 30. — LBG/RSJ, GMANews.TV

Ady An can't get enough of Berkin

Owning a Hermes Birkin is many women’s wish…including Ady An.

This time, UDN takes the photo-shoot at a Hermes store. The moment Ady walks in, she speaks with excitement, “Do you know what I brought?” Like a kid anxiously showing off her treasure, she takes out her four hundred thousand dollar (NT) dream bag, which is the most expensive bag that she has ever bought and spent five years on the waiting list to obtain.

“I can’t even bear to actually use it. I bought it at the beginning of the year and today is the second time that I’ve taken it out to use it.” Ady reveals that she treats her Birkin like a Goddess, “I don’t take it out when I’m filming or when it’s raining outside.” When asked if her dream of owning a Birkin bag ends here, she giggles and says that she still wants to get another one in a lighter color. She’s got her eyes on the grey and white crocodile-skin version, but its price is well over a million (NTD), making her cry out three times, “So expensive!” And then she adds, “I really can’t (buy it). I’m probably not fated to. I hope my future husband will buy it for me!”

Her future husband? Every time Ady is asked about her love life, she would immediately frown, but for the sake of a Hermes Birkin, she actually said those words! She shyly responds, “I’ve grown up, you know? My body has already become immuned, so I can face them (those questions) now.” The only thing she still minds is, “Can we ‘delete’ Dylan Kuo off of the list of past love rumors? That one is really too out of this world.”

Counting all the previous love rumors Ady has had, from Director Ke Qin-Zheng, Dylan Kuo, Huang Xiao-Ming, Boss Huang Zung-Lei of Huayi Brothers Media Corp., Deng Chao to Zhang Bu-Jin the former assistant of Legislator Hsieh Kuo-Liang. Ady admits that Director Ke Qin-Zheng and Huayi’s Boss Huang Zung-Lei have really taken good care of her in the past. As for Huang Xiao-Ming and Deng Chao, Ady says that they are just good friends. Ady nicknames Zhang Bu-Jin “195” (as in centimeters). She explains, “He’s so tall. When standing among our group of friends, he’s like our bodyguard. It’s enough to be rumored with all these people, but Dylan Kuo and I have never eaten dinner alone together. We’ve never even made a call to each other.”

After being in showbiz for so long, Ady has seen it all. Ady assures that she will not date a male star, “There are so many pretty girls around on the filming set, where you can’t even tell who’s flirting with whom. So why should I tire myself? I can only become friends with other male stars, (so that) regardless of how many girlfriends they have, it has nothing to do with me.”

Marie Digby admits she likes Sam Milby

American acoustic singer Marie Digby has finally broken her silence on the issue that links her to heartthrob Sam Milby.

In an exclusive response to “Showbiz News Ngayon” aired June 14, the singer of the hit "Say It Again" admitted that she likes Sam but she is uncertain on what the future holds for them. I like Sam very much and it’s just unfortunate that we live half a world apart. I’m not sure what the future holds but for the time being, I truly enjoy the time we spend together.”

Marie is quite surprised with the big media attention being given to her and Sam. I care very much about him and the last thing I want is to make the story or issue bigger than it is. Also, it would sadden me for anyone to ever think that I am seeking any kind of media attention in connection to my knowing him,” she said in her message.

She feels lucky to have met the Fil-Am acoustic singer. Although I haven’t known Sam for a very long time, what I have found is that he is one of the kindest, most generous and most respectful man I have ever met. We began talking, thanks to our mutual friend KC who is absolutely lovely!”

Sam and Marie’s romance surfaced last month when they were sighted spending time together at one of the hotel beaches in Boracay. Sam, in an interview that came after, admitted he spent his birthday with Marie, who was on a short vacation then.

“Oo, [nagkita kami] one day lang,” Sam said in a previous “SNN” interview.

The singer, though, doused waters on rumors that they’re already a couple.

“Hindi. We’re not together,” he clarified about his relationship with Marie.

SME to Hangeng: You're still under contract!

SM Entertainment has reminded Hangeng, the Chinese member of boy band Super Junior, that he is still under contract with the agency and that all his activities should have its approval.

Hangeng filed a lawsuit against SME last December in South Korea to terminate his exclusive contract, saying that it was disadvantageous to him. He left South Korea and is living in his native China. Since then, he has been charting his career as a solo singer outside SME.

SME’s action is regarded as a response to many activities that Hangeng has been doing in the past several months including TV appearances. Recently, Hangeng and Chinese singer Zhou BiChang recorded the official song for the Asian Games that will be held in Guangzhou, China this November. The song has topped 20 music charts in different parts of China. Hangeng is also set to release his own album.

In an article in a Chinese website, Hangeng talked about his lawsuit.

"In Korea, artists terminating their contracts are very common. If that artist is a solo artist, the termination just needs to go through the necessary procedures to complete, but it is more sensitive if that artist is in a group, as he/she not only needs to face the company, but also the fans and members who make up the group who have been together for many years," said Hangeng in a translation by sj-world.net, the international forum for Super Junior fans.

Hangeng is leaving up to his lawyer to work on the lawsuit while he is focusing on his career. In addition to singing, he said he is interested in making movies and his dream is to act with his idol Jackie Chan.

UEE criticized for having belly fat

It looks like After School’s UEE is the next target of netizens, as pictures of her promoting Bang! were recently uploaded to an After School-based online community.

Netizens have been quite harsh with her, exclaiming that they were shocked with her failed weight control and how Uee does nothing to stop the weight gain. Though cruel, netizens also defended the singer-turned-actress by saying the photos could have simply been edited by an anti-fan.

UEE is currently busy filming a drama Birdie Buddy, and some staff on-set commented saying “While shooting, a vigorous workout for the golfers is sometimes required. Though fully dedicated to what she (UEE) does, compared to the others, she seems just a bit overweight.”

Secret behind Wonder Girls' tattoos

The Wonder Girls aren’t only gaining popularity from their new title song 2 Different Tears, but their strikingly unique concept for this album is also becoming sensational.

2 Different tears revives the once popular disco phase of the 1980s with an emphasis on the fashion concept as well: retro denim look + chic black laces. Netizens have eyed their new concept in a favorable manner and have admitted that the new concept balances well with the innocent yet sexy images of the girls.

So, which stands out the most among these hot fashion items? Their tattoos. With a chain-like shape, the tattoos

cast a powerful and womanly aura. Each of the members have a tattoo design of a trendy item from the designer brand Chanel’s 2010 collection displayed on their arms and legs. Without hesitation, the girls decided to use this item as a part of their new concept soon after eyeing this collection. Even amongst the American fashionistas, this is the new ‘it’ item.

Wondergirls’ stylist Kim Hyo Jung explained, “To match the atmosphere of this song, we thought of adding the tattoo concept to liven up the punk feel.” Of course, these aren’t legitimate tattoos. The girls use sticker tattoos for their stage performances that easily wash off.

Sandara gets burned from cooking

Last year, the girls of 2NE1 burned the competition with their hit Fire and now it seems something else is burning.

Sandara Park recently posted a photo of her with a bandage wrapped around her finger on me2day. Along with the photo, she commented, “Why is my finger huge? Today at the dorm I was carelessly cooking ramen and got a second degree burn. CL was there at the scene and came to comfort me.”

Perez Hilton on Charice: Awesome!

FORBES' number 1 web celebrity, Perez Hilton, has great things to say about our very own international singing sensation, Charice.

Charice appeared on Mario Armando Lavandeira, Jr.'s blog, popularly known as PerezHilton.com. Tagged as Hollywood's most hated website, PerezHilton is known for "outing" of alleged closeted celebrities and delivering the juiciest celebrity gossips. The Pinay pop princess recorded a cover of Justin Bieber's "Baby" and dedicated it to Perez Hilton (What is it about Charice and the gay community?). Perez, on the other hand, loved the video.

Here's what Perez Hilton have to say about Charice:

Wow. Wow. Wow.

THIS is truly spectacular!

You’ve seen her on Oprah. And she was on just this week with Justin Bieber.

Now, Charice sends exclusively to PerezHilton.com – with a special intro to Perez and Teddy Hilton – a very special song.

The Philippine singing sensation does her own take on Bieber’s Baby and we LOVE it! She can SING, naturally. But we even love her rap/breakdown towards the end!

Awesome! Awesome! Awesome!

Great job Charice!

Barbie Xu schemes her way into showbiz

Summer’s Desire got off to a disappointing start last week, but Barbie Xu and company will be back again this Sunday with even more intense drama. Her character is in the midst of competing for a chance to debut as a singer, while Huang Xiao-Ming re-enters her life as a superstar who might be after her for revenge. Before she gets her big break, the aspiring singer will first get kidnapped and then rescued by Peter Ho. And despite being hurt, our heroine is in no rush to cover her wounds, because she will use them to gain the sympathy of judges who will be deciding her fate.

In real life, Barbie faced her own challenge when she recorded the song “Diamond” for Summer's Desire. The insert track was written by her friend Mavis Fan, and its jazz-like arrangement required a husky voice to perform. She spent two days in the recording studio but was unsatisfied with her singing. In the end, she drank some alcohol and completed the recording by deliberately lowering her voice. Unfortunately, the actress got a sore throat as a result which took a month to recover.

Barbie was also the subject of criticism after the drama's first episode went on air. Netizens are not complaining about her acting, but rather it was her make up that bothered them. There were comments about her eye makeup being too dark and gloomy, while her brows were too thick. She responded through her manager, “That is in fact the real face of (her character)
Yin Xia-Mo.” In the original novel, it describes Yin Xia-Mo as someone with “ivory skin, black hair flowing like seaweed, and eyes that are like sea water, but they remain cold even when she smiles.”
