Sunggyu on hot seat

Sunggyu of INFINITE is receiving quite a backlash after his unfortunate choice of words revealed through a BTS video of tvN's Genius: Rules of the GameIn the video clip that was uploaded on the 26th, Park Eun Ji, Lee Sang Min, and Sunggyu were seen discussing amongst themselves during the game.

In the video, Park Eun Ji told Lee Sang Min, "Isn't it difficult to make a living? Now that I've lived for 30 years, I'm realizing it is really not easy." Lee Sang Min replied, "Yeah true.. When a woman reaches the age of 30...", Sunggyu jumped in to complete his sentence, "You're right. She's a yomul."

'Yomul' is a term that means deceitful, sly, wicked on its own, and when it's aimed towards women, it is a term that describes a woman who is good at luring in men for her benefit.

Woollim Entertaiment quickly responded, "It seems things have blown out of proportion. If you watch the video, Sunggyu didn't have bad intentions. He just said it at the time just going along with the atmosphere of the conversation. It was released in an exaggerated form."

The Genius: Rules of the Game have since made the video private after the controversy arose.

Daiana Menezes apologizes for posts

Brazilian model Daiana Menezes admitted she was just seeking attention from her husband, outgoing Cagayan de Oro Rep. Benjamin Benaldo, when she posted cryptic messages in various social networking sites recently. In an exclusive interview with The Buzz aired on Sunday, Menezes stressed that she was never a victim of domestic violence as she apologized for the ruckus her posts have created.

In a way, I was actually seeking [his attention]. He was so busy. Sometimes we don’t really get to see each other. I want to make it clear. Some people think that we want attention from the public, which is something like ‘No, no, no.’ We are just normal,” she said. “If I made no sense at all, my apologies but I really have my emotions.

Early last week, the 25-year-old model shared a series of images pertaining to violence against women, including ones showing the words "No to rape," "Real Men Don't use Violence," and "There is no excuse for abuse."

Another photo on Menezes' Instagram page showed an arm bleeding from cuts and wounds. The photos alarmed netizens and even women's groups and government agencies offered to help the Brazilian beauty. Menezes' mother also flew to Manila after seeing the posts. But in the interview, Benaldo clarified that Menezes just wanted him to listen to her story about "something that had happened."

Something happened in the house and I was busy campaigning and I would always tell her that I need sleep. And then she would talk to me about things happening in the house. She thought I wouldn’t believe her so that’s why she put those things,” he said.

Contrary to the public’s interpretation of her posts, Menezes maintained she was never a battered wife. Sa kanya, masama ang effect eh. I came from a cover shoot, panay iyak lang ako. All the people would talk to me about Benjo, they would side with me, they would bash him, I would defend him,” she said. “No. We are just like a normal couple. I regret having brought him into a situation that may allege him [of hurting me],” she added.

While he is portrayed to be the bad guy in this story, Benaldo said he actually didn’t mind because he and Menezes know the truth. Asked what she learned from this incident, Menezes said: “You have to be careful of what you say because it’s up to the interpretation of whoever’s seeing it especially because they don’t know you very well.

Benaldo and Menezes were married in December 2012.

Ha Jiwon reveals she once received psychiatric help

Actress Ha Jiwon shed tears as she shared about having to seek psychiatric help after filming the movie Sector 7On an episode of Thank You, the guests had a candid discussion with each other and spoke clearly enough to cover the generation gap among the guests.

During the show, Ha Jiwon said, “After filming Sector 7 I received psychiatric help.  I could not break away from my character.  In the movie, the monster and all the people I love died and I was the only one left alive. But for some reason, I could not break away from the pain of that character for quite some time.

After the conclusion of the movie, I needed to go in for the script reading for Secret Garden, but I could not break away from my character on Sector 7 so the entire script reading was a mess.  I knew I could not do it alone so I sought out professional help,” the actress shared in tears.

Ha Ji Won added, “I don’t think I’m a fun person.  I get very invested to my character and when the project ends, I realize just how boring the real Ha Ji Won is.  So even when I am on a break I purposefully try to be more busy.

We are glad Ha Ji Won was able to find help for herself, otherwise we may never have been able to watch the amazing chemistry between her and Hyun Bin in their breakthrough drama Secret Garden.

Jay Park is crushing on Bora

With SISTAR‘s Bora rapping about boys that are Gone, Not Around Any Longer, it looks like Jay Park is hoping to fill in that empty spot. On the April 8th broadcast of Taxi, when asked who is the female celebrity that he wants to act with on SNL Korea, Jay revealed that the woman who caught his eyes lately is none other than Bora.

MC Jun Hyun Moo asked the singer, “Do you have any plans to date? It doesn’t seem like you’re dating at the moment”, asking the question all fan girls are dying to know. Jay Park then boldly joked,“Unless Bora appears before me, I don’t think I’ll be dating.

Jun Hyun Moo replied, “This will definitely appear in the news articles. ‘Jay Park won’t start dating unless it’s Bora?’ Do you really like Bora that much?” Jay then revealed how he had come to develop his crush, saying,“I came to admire her watching SISTAR19‘s Gone Not Around Any Longer performances. But I think that if this broadcast airs, it will become more awkward between us.”

Netizens commented “I can't blame him, she is pretty darn sexy”, “Everyone loves Bora and why shouldn't they? She's amazing”, “ Bora is cool but she loves Joong Ki”, “He acts like he is the only one. Get in line, buddy”, etc.

Hyosung and her figure issues

Although Hyosung of popular girl group SECRET is gifted with a glamorous body and is envied by a lot of women out there, the idol revealed that there was a time when her curves caused her some concern. On the May 6th broadcast of Hello, a mother shared her worries about her daughter who tries to be like a man.

The mother shared that her daughter would also resort to wrapping her breasts tightly with bands to flatten them and hide her figure. Hearing this, MC Shin Dong Yup asked, “Perhaps she was embarrassed by her bodily changes [going through puberty]?

The celebrity guests who appeared on the show sympathized with the daughter though, especially Hyosung who revealed that her curves made her feel uncomfortable during her school days. “I could feel the eyes of boys on me, so I was embarrassed. During P.E. class I would run hunched over to hide my figure.

In addition, during another part of the show, Hyosung also revealed the dilemma she faced about losing weight after reading varying opinions from the public. “After reading a comment that said I was short and stocky, I was shocked and decided to lose weight. However, after I lost weight, I started reading comments like ‘She looks weirder after losing weight. She was better before.’ So after reading things like that, I was hurt and didn’t know what I should be doing.

Hearing her struggle, the MCs consoled her saying, “You look pretty either way.

T-ara speaks up for the first time

The members of T-ara N4 talked about their bullying scandal and various other rumors for the first time on an episode of Beatles Code 2.

Hyomin was the first to speak up, and she said, “There were rumors that I was a thug when I went to school. I just hung out with kids who weren't the nicest kids, but that was it. There are also rumors that I was forced to move schools because I had hit another student. I never hit anyone. I’d rather someone come out and say that I hit them.”

She revealed that she had moved schools, but it wasn't because she had hit someone. She explained, “My mom decided that I should switch schools because she wanted to pursue a better education for me. It’s not related to violence at all. The reason why I didn’t say anything back then was because I didn’t want people to look down on my friends because of me.

The girls also admitted that they had an argument with Hwayoung during the SNS controversy. However, Eunjung asserted that there was no bullying, saying, “People might think so if you just read everything that’s online. But even I was rumored to being bullied. To be honest, we had an argument with Hwayoung for about 2 days during the incident. But it was wrong of us to publicly make statements through Twitter. It was wrong to write about the topic, period. The more we stayed silent, the rumors and misunderstandings kept growing. It was so bad that even we were getting confused. I thought I’d lived without any regrets, but I was pained because I felt I’d become a bad person.

On all the hate comments they received, Eunjung said, “Whenever articles about us come out, we get a ton of hate comments. At first, I just read it out of curiosity but I can’t read it anymore because the more I read, the more energy I lose.

Hyomin added, “The worst one was when Soyeon unni got into a car accident, and someone wrote, ‘she should have just died’. There were others who said the entire accident was made up. It was such a bad accident that she got tossed out of the car.

On their Music Bank controversy, Hyomin spoke up to say, “After we argued in Japan, we had a Music Bank schedule right away. It was so awkward. After we came back to Korea, we had a conversation with Hwayoung for about 40 minutes. I didn't want to have fights when it was a stage we were dreaming of. After Hwayoung left, we had an official schedule, but we couldn’t say anything because of the circumstances. We wanted to say something so badly that it even came out in our dreams. I just wanted to say two things: ‘I’m sorry, and I’ll work harder’. But if we tried to explain ourselves back then, the situation would have just gotten worse. But we really wanted to. We wanted to admit the parts that were true, that they weren’t false, and then take time off to self reflect. But in the end, we just became the kids who didn’t care.”

Jiyeon also expressed her apologetic heart to Hwayoung and said, “We had been together for over 3 years, so Hwayoung might have had difficulties being with us. She probably had a hard time adjusting.

Later, the girls added, “If we truly hated her, we wouldn't have even argued. But we disappointed her and made her feel lonely. No matter the reason, we’re sorry and also apologize to have created a disturbance as public figures.

Taeyeon poses with Seohyun and Kangin

Girls' Generation's leader Taeyeon uploaded a very heartwarming photo on her Instagram account and made all ELFs and Soshis hearts flutter. She shared the photo above on 25th March, she wrote,"It was a good show. SUPERSHOW5 World Tour, hwaiting!".

In the photo, the idol was seen posing with fellow Girls’ Generation member Seohyun and Super Juinor member Kangin, who used to be her radio broadcast partner years ago.

SHINee's Onew on hot seat

A situation any fan would fear. It is finally happening for SHINee’s sweet leader Onew. After having been under scrutiny because of that ‘middle finger’ incident on a radio broadcast, the young singer is once again causing another controversy as he was photographed sitting inside a car with fellow singer JungAh of After School. Not only that, he was also captured smoking on an electronic cigarette that shocked many fans and netizens.

In a press release, Jung Ah’s agency, Pledis Entertainment, denied all charges of a relationship between the two idols. “The two of them are merely close friends, not dating. As fellow entertainment workers, Jung Ah and Onew have a close relationship where they advise each other. Today, their schedules matched so they were only enjoying a light meal together, and weren’t dating like media agencies have reported.

As to his smoking, the photo has been a shock to many netizens as it was totally opposite to his usual proper and young innocent image. However, some netizens have spoken up on his defense to say that smoking electronic cigarettes is not a big deal.

They commented, “He’s an adult and he wasn’t on broadcast”, “I was surprised, but I can understand”, “I liked him because of his youthful image”, “He’s in deep trouble”,  “He needs to take care of his image”, and more. But the trending comment on ALK from user hellokaylie wrote, “Your oppa cusses. Your oppa hates things. Your oppa flips people off. Your oppa drinks or smokes. Your oppa masturbates. Your oppa has sex. Your oppa watches porn. Let it go and stop treating someone in their mid/late twenties like they’re a child”.

If you love what you do, you’ll see it unfold before your eyes, it’s going to happen,” she said.

Sunggyu sighed as he responded, “I saw that. If you type in ‘Sunggyu’ in the search bar, the related search term is ‘Sunggyu’s solo failure’.” The other MCs joked around to make him smile, and he continued, “It came out last year, and the songs were really good. The album is a classic. It’s a really well-made album.

Kyuhyun mentioned that INFINITE-H‘s album was doing well, and Sunggyu explained that it was because they had the name ‘INFINITE’ behind them, while he just promoted simply as ‘Kim Sunggyu’, and explained that he was originally going to be ‘INFINITE’s Sungyu’, but changed at the last minute.

Even more so than the failure itself, he related, was the reactions of his fellow INFINITE members. He said, “The worst thing was, L‘s sitcom was cancelled. I heard he was drinking with our CEO, so I went to them. In the beginning, he said he was so thankful that I was there, but when he got drunk, he said, ‘But it’s okay because you failed, too’. I went to cheer him on, but I was the one that got damaged. During that time, it was sort of hard for me to say anything, because he was having a hard time, too. Since I’m a hyung, I couldn't go argue with him about it. I was going to let it go if he stopped there, but he just kept going. He even knew the exact ranking. Even I didn't know that! I got angry and blurted, ‘ Didn't the drama get ruined because of you?’“.

Sunggyu went on to reveal that despite being hurt at the time over L’s remarks, they mutually put an end to the problem by getting over their hangover together the next morning – which goes to prove that in some cases, drinking does solve problems, after all!
