Yesung expresses his disappointment about criticism towards idol groups not being able to sing

Super Junior
’s Yesung recently revealed his thoughts regarding articles comparing the singing abilities between idol groups and ‘Superstar K2‘ contestants.

During a press conference for the musical ‘Spam-a-lot’ held on October 1st, Yesung said, “I read an article about idol group members having no singing abilities when compared to the contestants of Superstar K2 and I couldn’t believe it.”

He continued, “Some people have this flimsy prejudice against idols, that since we’re idols we can’t do things like this. Even if we’re idols, there are still people who work hard.

“There were also biased views against idols in the musical world. When I first did the musical ‘Namhan Fortress’, I wanted to destroy that image.”

Yesung participated in the Korean original musical ‘Namhan Fortress‘ last year, and since then many other male idol group members have been following his footsteps, challenging themselves in the musical world as well.

Yesung emphasized, “I have pride that I was the first ever idol group member to participate in a musical. I find 1 hour of practicing for a musical with other actors better than 100 hours of acting class.”

Meanwhile, the comical musical ‘Spam-a-lot’ is about King Arthur on his way to find the Holy Grail and will wrap up promotions on January 2nd 2011.

Barbie Xu caught holding hands with...

After a failed romance with Vic Zhou , are things finally looking up for Barbie Xu in the romance department?

Taiwanese artiste Barbie Xu (also better known as Da S) has been single for more than two years following her separation from Vic Zhou in Jan 2008. The 33-year-old actress was recently spotted in the company of Shone An, a member from the now-defunct pop group, Comic Boys.

The pair was seen chatting and holding hands as they made their way to Shone's birthday celebration.

Although Barbie instinctively pushed her cap down to shield her face when the both of them discovered the presence of paparazzi, she did not shrink away from Shone's side and continued holding onto hand.

When the photos surfaced on the internet, Barbie commented on the Chinese micro-blogging platform, Wei Bo, and wrote, "Shone, we were followed! Our photos were snapped and there are even rumours! I really look like your aunty..."

In response to Barbie's statement, Shone replied a few minutes later saying, "You don't look like an aunty. You are a hot babe."

Barbie's manager, Dou Dou, refuted allegations of a blossoming romance between the pair and expressed, "There shouldn't be [any romance]! The both of them are just really good friends who have known each other for many years. It was Shone's birthday and the both of them happened to be in Beijing and met at the party.

"His relationship to Barbie is similar to his relationship with Ady Ang. They are like siblings!"

Commenting on the part of Barbie and Shone holding hands, Dou Dou explained that Shone was merely being a gentleman "taking care of Barbie who injured her hand during filming".

"Barbie was in Beijing to treat her hand. She will continue filming in Hangzhou today," the manager added.

As for the pair's constant exchanges on Wei Bo, Dou Dou chuckled, "It's [Barbie and Shone's exchange on Wei Bo] not very frequent and only happened over the past few days. As they are both in Beijing and have met up with each other, there would naturally be more exchanges!"

Negating on the possibilities of a romantic relationship between Barbie and Shone, she revealed that the company is also waiting to hear good news from the actress on her love life.

"But there is really none now!" Dou Dou replied.

At a press conference for Reign of Assassins held a few days ago, Barbie expressed that she has "Yet to meet the right person". When asked about her ideal boyfriend qualities, the Summer Scent actress said, "I do not care about status, nationality, or age. As long as he is right, things will work out."

Jerry Yan reveals almost sordid past

If not for his mom, singer/ actor/ model Jerry Yan would probably be a gigolo instead of the pop idol that he is today.

"Because I'm good at peeling grape skins, I had the potential to be a gigolo," joked Jerry Yan at the recording of Chinese variety show, Fei Chang Jing Ju Li.
"I nearly went astray when I was young. If not for my mum who brought me back to the right path, there wouldn't be me today. "

Currently in China for promotions of his latest pictorial book, which reportedly took five years to produce, Jerry talked at lengths about his family.
As a child from a single-parent family, the pop star felt that he never knew how to love somebody, and also added that he shared a "sibling-like" relationship with his divorcee mum.

"In certain aspects, I'm more like an older brother (to my mom)," he quipped.

The star also revealed that he felt like he has failed in all his relationships.

"Even if I wanted to, I don't know how to express my love sometimes. I only know how to carry all burdens on my shoulder," he said.

To maintain Jerry's idol image, his surprising revelation will not be aired on television. However, raw clips of the recording have since gone viral.

Ken vs. Jerry's fans; Vic afraid to get involved

As some may have already heard,
Ken Zhu is embroiled, once again, in a fight against Jerry Yan fans. A few nights ago, Ken decided to provoke Jerry fans on his Weibo*, causing them to retaliate back. When asked about this subject at his Pert shampoo activity, Vic Zhou was very hesitant to step into the mess and only hurriedly replied, "I don't even dare to pick up their phone calls. It's best to avoid communication."

However, when he heard from reporters that Ken had described Jerry fans as "Evil Spirits" and even wrote "May the Heart Sutra bring salvation to you," inciting the fans, Vic could not help but laugh out loud. "That would be Ken. If he didn't do that, he wouldn't be Ken Chu. He has always been the most daring speaker out of all of us, his speech is quite extreme, and he is brave enough to accept outside criticism."

Vic stated that he was not a member of Weibo, so he would most likely not go online to look at the comments. However, a friend has sent him things regarding Ken versus Jerry fans, "(I) have only seen an incomplete picture, (I) am not sure under what circumstances he wrote it in." He said that the private relationship between Ken and Jerry wasn't bad before, that for something like this to happen was also in accordance with Ken's personality. Vic also revealed that Ken has scolded him in front of the cameras before, but said, "These things can't hurt me because a friend wouldn't care and will only believe that he is just joking."

As for Ken describing Jerry as very shrewd, Vic thought about it for awhile before saying, "(He) could consider his terminology again, being deciphered as something else by others isn't a good thing."

This year marks the tenth year of the formation of F4, and many outsiders wish for them to come together once again. When he was asked about his views on Jerry dropping out of "
Material Queen" and having Vanness Wu picking it up afterward, Vic widened his eyes and said, "We are all in different companies now, I can't speak for them. They probably have their own thoughts on it."

Vic does not deny that he is still battling depression, and still regularly sees a psychologist. He says, "Not seeing a doctor when you are sick will cause it to worsen. I am revealing this because I wish for everyone to have the correct idea." He emphasized that he was currently very normal and has started shooting for the TV series "
Return Home" that was originally slated to start shooting at the end of last year.

Vanness Wu confirms break up with girlfriend Arissa

It's over for Vanness Wu and Singaporean girlfriend Arissa Cheo.

Speaking through his manager yesterday, the star confirmed the news, stating that the pair had "indeed broken up, but are in contact, and are still friends." The former F4 member revealed in April this year that he had patched up with ex-girlfriend Arissa. Marriage was on the cards during their reconciliation then.

The two used to date for a year in 2006, but broke up when the pair drifted apart when Arissa was studying in the US. In a post dated September 4 on Twitter, the 31-year-old actor-singer hinted at his heartache and breakup with his squeeze.

"No [,] I'm not saaayin~ [that I'm] soooorrry~ One DAY! Maybe we'll meet again~~~Closer to the edge," wrote Vanness.

A day earlier, he posted, "where it lies, is where you left it, where you left it, is where it died... revive, revive... revive the heart."

News of their breakup surfaced when eagle-eyed Taiwanese netizens discovered that the couple was no longer following each other on Twitter. Arissa also posted a picture on her Twitter, where she was seen posing with a guy - believed to be her new lover.

A devout Christian, Vanness has taken a chastity pledge against pre-marital sex. However, his ex-girlfriend is widely known for her liberal ways like posing sexy pictures of herself online. Could a clash of "sexual interest" be the catalyst to the failed relationship?

Vanness's manager responded, "He feels that she is not a celebrity, and hopes for her privacy to be respected. It's not convenient for him to speak about such topics."

Arissa has also denied allegations that the breakup was due to a third party.

Vanness is currently busy with preparations for his upcoming album. He will be heading to France for the filming of his new drama, Material Queen, in October.
