Rain finally enlists in the army

After giving teary-eyed fans a rousing send off on Sunday with a free street concert in Gangnam, a newly-cropped Rain enlisted in the Army on Tuesday afternoon for 21 months of compulsory military service.

The "Ninja Assassin" star and Korean Wave singing sensation reported to the 306th Army draft camp in Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi Province. He is going to take up active duty after a five-week boot camp. The former back-up dancer who rose to international fame held a press conference at a nearby vacant lot and bade farewell to fans before he disappeared into the Army camp.

The ever-humble star said, " I'm sorry for making a fuss about my enlistment." He thanked fans for supporting him for the best part of a decade and looked emotional as he headed off for a life of drills, discipline and Army fatigues.
He was seen off by friends and acquaintances including K-pop boy band MBLAQ, which he helped create and manage. About 1,000 fans from home and abroad, including those from the U.S., Japan, China, Taiwan and Hong Kong, gathered to see him carrying placards wishing him the best.

He debuted as a solo artist in 2002 and has since expanded his scope of activities to include TV dramas and films. In 2006, Time magazine named him on its list of the top 100 people who were transforming the world with their talent or power. " Thanks to his angelic face, killer bod and Justin Timber-like dance moves, Rain … has ridden the crest of hallyu," wrote Time reporter Bryan Walsh.

Rain acted in the Hollywood movie "Speed Racer" in 2008 and starred in the action film "Ninja Assassin" one year later.

Lin Chi-Ling may reconcile with Jerry Yan

It looks like all is not over between Taiwanese model Lin Chi-ling and actor Jerry Yan.

In Chi-ling's latest movie Love On Credit, the model-turned-actress portrayed two different characters perfectly. In the show, her character was torn between the two male leads. In real life, Chi-ling's relationships with actor Jerry Yan and businessman Qiu Shikai have been the focus of media attention.

When asked about her relationship with the two men, Chi-ling laughed, "This question had been asked so many times before, I'm sure no one wants to hear about it anymore." Out of the blue, the actress, who never discussed her love life publicly, said, "There is someone I like already."

However, Chi-ling kept tight-lipped, when the reporters probed the guy's identity, because she was worried that [the media] might blow it out of proportion. She also emphasised that she had no plans to get married at the moment and merely wanted a normal relationship. "My biggest dream is to be able to walk hand in hand [with my boyfriend] under the sun," the actress added.

Chi-ling also added that "it is possible" for two people -- who are still in love with each other, but had broken up -- to get back together. She said that when a couple splits, it does not necessary mean that someone was at fault. Chi-ling added that a person's personality might have changed for the better over time, so the possibility of reconciliation will depend on whether the couple can look past their previous mistakes and start anew.

From her reply, it seemed that there might be a chance for her to get back with her former lover Jerry. Commenting on whether she would marry into a wealthy family, Chi-ling asserted, "No."

The actress added that she "would not mind at all" if she did not marry a rich husband. " I'm very sure I'll not mind. I'll repeat it 10 times, because it's the truth," she said.

Ken Zhu is dating Maggie Wu

Earlier this year, Taiwanese actor-singer Ken Zhu ended his five-year relationship with ex-girlfriend Kelly Lin, who got married in March at the Maldives.

During the filming of "Remember, About Us" in March, it was rumoured that Ken was courting all three of his female co-stars, including Michelle Chen, Jennifer Chu and Maggie Wu. Their suspicions were recently confirmed when they saw Ken having a dinner date with Maggie.

On the evening of September 9, a member of the public tipped the media off and claimed that he had seen Ken dining with Maggie at a restaurant along Taipei's Jiangkang Road. The pair sat in a secluded area, where the actor was seen cutting Maggie's steak for her. After the two left the restaurant, Ken sent the actress back to her own apartment. Shortly after that, Maggie re-appeared again with a huge luggage, boarded the car as they drove towards Ken's residence.

When they realised they were being followed, the 32-year-old stopped by his friend's bicycle shop for a quick chat, before carrying on with the journey. The pair took a long detour, but soon gave up after their failed attempts to shake the paparazzi off their trail. Ken and Maggie returned to the actor's home and did not leave the building until the next afternoon.

After the couple's date was caught on photographs, when reporters reached the managers of both parties for a statement, they did not deny the ongoing relationship between Ken and Maggie. Ken's manager, Summer, expressed that she encouraged Ken to find a new girlfriend, because it would help to boost his self-esteem.

Maggie's manager said, "Both are still unmarried and have been admiring each other."

Leeteuk: "I will enlist in the army next year"

Following the ever so publicized (but not intentional) enlistment of Kim Heechul just this month, everyone's eyes are now on Super Junior leader Park Leeteuk and his plans of enlisting in the military as well.

In an interview after the "SM TOWN Live in Tokyo Special Edition" concert, he shared, "I plan to enter the army next yearI’m saying this because I don’t want to have hateful articles saying ‘Just go the the army ’", he jokingly added.

The funny leader also revealed, "Tokyo Dome was my dream stage. I always wanted to perform here before I go to armyI was really happy to see the fans go crazy especially on our ending performance where we sang 'Light', a song composed by our senior".

Oh well, if this plan will really push through this year or early next year, fans like ME can do nothing but just wish him well. But I would definitely love it if he enters right after Kang In leaves. I want to see a reunion, if you know what i mean. Haha! Anyway, it's cool how Super Junior related news are just everywhere these days. Fighting, eternal leader!

Kim Heechul in the army

After thanking his fans and the press, Super Junior member Kim Heechul formally enlisted in the army on September 1, and it created quite a stir in the entertainment industry.

Fans from Korea, Japan and all over the world waited at the entrance before his arrival. He arrived wearing a hat, which he immediately took off to greet his fans. He began with a warm smile, “I wasn’t going to greet anyone before enlisting, but I think my haircut came out okay.”

He continued with a bow, “I’ll come back as an adult. Thank you so much for coming all the way out here." After making a cute pose for the cameras, he added, “Please edit the pictures nicely if you’re going to upload them!" And although he stayed for only a brief moment, he made sure to wave to his fans before leaving the scene. The fans shouted in unison, “Be well, we’ll wait for you until the end.” Some emotional fans couldn’t help but shed tears over his enlistment.

Heechul will be receiving four weeks of training at the Nonsan Training Camp before beginning his service as a member of the public service personnel for 23 months.

Recently, pictures of Heechul in his army uniform surfaced online, causing fans to sigh with relief over Heechul’s smooth adjustment. The first picture shows the idol holding up his right hand as he pledges his military oath, while the second picture shows him confidently holding onto a gun, completely focused on his senior’s orders.

Commenting on his enlistment, Heechul expressed, “It’s still a bit unfamiliar, but I had already heard a lot of training stories from member Kang In, so I think I can do well.”
