“Being a teenager as well, I can totally relate to them. I want them to realize that, don’t listen to anybody,” the Pinay divette said in a behind-the-scene footage while shooting the song’s music video, which was released a few days back. “One Day,” Charice shared is “all about reaching for your dream, no matter the odds. Ignore all the people who say you can’t reach your goal and always go for it!” The teen pop sensation, who had her share of bullied episodes particularly via social networking sites and nasty internet posts, added, “Just be proud of yourself. Be confident and nobody’s going to bring you down. You’re just gonna do it and go for it.”
Every once in a while, a pop song of this nature comes out to encourage positive vibes from the youth the way Christina Aguilera’s “Beautiful” did or more recently Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way.” Nick Jonas, who produced and wrote the song for Charice while the latter was in Boston filming “Here Comes the Boom,” raved about the young Filipina’s belting pipes. “Charice is amazing. I flew to Boston to produce the song for her, and she was shooting a movie there, so it was kind of a fun experience. We had a great time,” the Jo-Bro opened up to MTV.com.
He addressed Charice’s humility by saying, “The main thing about Charice that I think people connect with and the first thing I love about her is the fact that she’s just kind of a normal girl who really shines because of her vocal talent.”
Nick went on, “I’m so blessed to have had the opportunity to produce for her because she’s just so talented and I have so much respect for her. It’s amazing to see this big voice come out of her particularly in this song.”
“One Day,” which can now be seen on YouTube, pictures Charice in an ideal school environment where praises are heaped on a teenage boy for drawing a sketch of another boy while two students are seen working hard on a difficult dance routine.
