Korean pop group Girls Generation (aka SNSD) will be appearing on two famous American talk shows to promote their album, “The Boys.”
Interscope Records, the girls’ label in the US, confirmed on its website that Girls Generation will appear on the “Late Show with David Letterman” on January 31 and on “LIVE! With Kelly” (formerly “Live with Regis and Kelly”), now hosted by Kelly Ripa, on February 1. SM Entertainment, the girls’ Korean agency, said Girls Generation will be the first Korean artist to appear on the two American talk shows. The girls will also be performing “The Boys” on both shows, SM Town posted on Facebook.
The group released “The Boys: Special Album” last January 17 on iTunes and Amazon. It is also available in stores, according to a post on Interscope. The album contains 17 tracks including “The Boys” remixes by Teddy Riley and Clinton Sparks and Disco Fries featuring Snoop Dogg, “Mr. Taxi,” “Telepathy,” “My J,” and “Oscar.”
SM Town said Girls Generation’s appearance on the two shows without any activities in the US “shows Girls Generation’s global popularity and influence.” It said this will “increase the expectation for the outcome that they will achieve in the American market in the future.”
Recently, Girls Generation won the bonsang and popularity awards in the 21st Seoul Music Awards held in Seoul, South Korea.
