Unusual paring in Lorenzo's Time

There is a new tv series in ABS-CBN set so begin airing this month, and loyal Kapamilyas are thrilled. A grown-up woman and an obviously young boy are preparing to have us all believe that age and years do not matter in love.

Lorenzo’s Time is sure to capture the hearts of Filipinos because of its storyline and the unusual pairing of the lead stars. When I wathched the full trailer, it kind of reminded me immediately of the Korean series Ice Girl since I loved it very much. However, this one I believe will be a little different so I am honestly anticipating its premier. This series will be topbilled by child wonder Zaijan Jaranilla and seasoned actress-tv host Carmina Villaroel.

Lorenzo’s Time’ is a touching journey of a young boy named Lorenzo who was diagnosed with progeria, an extremely rare genetic condition wherein symptoms resembling aspects of aging are manifested at an early age. In order to preserve his young body, he was subjected to cryonics until his parents find a cure for it. After 30 years, he will wake up to face the world with missed precious moments of his life – including his family and the one girl he loves.

Get your tissues ready every night, folks. This one’s going to be a tear-jerker.

Wonder Girl Sunye wins MVP

Wonder Girls are perhaps one of the 5 busiest idols in Korea these days, with their recent Japanese debut and on going US promotions. But leader Sunye showed another side of herself when she participated on 100 Million Quiz Show and emerged as the episode’s MVP.

The lovely lady is reported to be the second “elite idol” to have achieved a perfect score following Girls’ Generation‘s Seohyun. The Wonder Girls member was calm and cool throughout the quiz program as she gave a reason behind each of her answers. She also impressed the audience with her renditions of songs by the ’70s and ’80s groups Pearl Sisters and Lily Sisters.

Sunye was always the quiet type, making sure the other members get attention first before herself. Now, she proved that she has even more to offer. Fans and netizens commented, “Not surprised, she’s the best”, “Beautiful voice, beautiful face, beautiful person, and did I mention beautifully intelligent too?”, “That’s why they are called Wonder Girls”, and “Sunye is my favorite Wonder Girls member for so many reasons - smart, dances well, sings beautifully and has a heart of gold. She's simply an awesome girl”.

Congratulations MVP!

Wonder Girls compared to Beyonce

The Wonder Girls have proven they can hold their own against U.S. stars as their new song Like This, which landed the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s K-pop chart, was like “an updated version of BeyoncĂ©’s ‘Get Me Bodied’ ” by Billboard.com.

The Web site of the weekly music publication that is distributed worldwide said last week that with the release of the tune containing synthetic handclaps and vocal chants, the Korean girl group had truly proven what a force it is in K-pop with its latest Wonder Party. Along with the video of the number one title track from the album, the publication said that the music video, complete with a flash mob, was a taste of  the real world. The video amassed more than eight million hits after being released on June 2 as well as claiming first place on the Billboard K-pop Hot 100 Chart during the week of June 21.

In the same chart, the group’s other track Girlfriend from the same album managed to make it to the 27th spot. Congratulations to the lovely ladies!

Phil and Angel officially a couple

And the love story begins, even though everybody seems to have expected it.  Phil Younghusband has finally confirmed that he and actress Angel Locsin are "officially boyfriend and girlfriend." The popular Azkals striker made the announcement during a recent press conference revealing that they became a couple only on May 27 this year. "We're happy. We fall more and more in love with each other. Love and happiness are really the words to describe our relationship,” he said.

Angel also corroborated the matter to PEP saying via text message, "Yupyup! It's official na nga :) hehe :) may 27 :)"

Still, the 24-year old Phil clarified that he is not yet ready to become husband to the talented actress. "It's too early to plan that. I've always said I wanted to have a future with Angel but no plans of weddings yet." He added, "We're in love but we have to work first and things like that."

It was last year, Valentine's Day, that Phil first expressed intention to pursue Angel and this he did quite publicly, asking the actress for a date via Twitter. The seemingly brash approach, which created much buzz at the time, worked somehow, with the two eventually meeting a couple of times. None too soon, they became constant companions, traveling together to such faraway places as Hong Kong and Paris.

Piolo Pascual's nephew now a rookie

And so good looks and talent do run in the family. Hunk actor Piolo Pascual may have prevented his son from entering showbiz, but now his very own nephew is taking the same path and from the looks of it, he’s pretty much doing just fine. Benjamin Alves just got into GMA network’s rooster of stars and he was officially welcomed last Sunday in  the afternoon musical variety program Party Pilipinas.

During an interview, Benjamin talked about his on-going movie project Guni Guni that will hit theatres this August. He stars in the film alongside the beautiful and talented actress Lovi Poe. Asked about how it was working with Lovi, Benjamin was all-praises for the actress. “Lovi is such a nice person. I’m so lucky to have such a big [project] and to have Lovi as my leading lady. She keeps me at ease. The biggest adjustment for me was that I can’t relax as normally as I can. Seeing Lovi being relaxed, being down to earth and being someone that I can talk to, it makes me feel comfortable,” he said.

Benjamin, however, admitted that he felt very nervous when he was told that he was going to do a kissing scene with Lovi in the film. We had a ‘moment’ there. Yeah, we had a kissing scene. It was a little awkward since it was a first for me but after the first take, we’re fine. The good thing about Lovi is that she does not make it any weirder than it has to be, she's game. For your co-actor to be like that, you have to make sure that you take the job seriously as well,” Benjamin said.

So how did it go? Interesting", he answered with a laugh. "Interesting because of the set-up, with everyone watching us. But I don’t kiss and tell, so.. (laughs),” he said.

Benjamin grew up in Guam where he graduated summa cum laude in college. He took up AB English and is planning to pursue graduate studies. Despite his American upbringing, Benjamin is lucky to be able to speak Tagalog fluently without the “twang,” which usually hinders most aspiring Filipinos who grew up abroad from making it big in the local entertainment industry. Although being compared with his uncle Piolo Pascual seems inevitable, Benjamin hopes that he would have the opportunity to establish his career in the showbiz industry on his own. It’s unfair to expect someone to achieve in a day what Piolo had achieved in years. But I do hope that in due time, I’d be as successful as he is,” he said.

Yoo In Na finally admits her relationship status

It's official. The brave and romantic Ji Hyun Woo has already become Yoo In Na's man, and fans as well as loyal shippers are going gaga over it. After some sweet photos of the two started sprouting on the internet just days ago, the charming lady finally confirmed their blossoming relationship.

The sweet revelation happened during Yoo In Na's radio program Volume Up. She stated, “I realized my feelings while still filming the drama but I got confused whether it was reality or just my drama role. So I chose to keep the feelings to myself until the end of the filming. I am thankful to Ji Hyun Woo for understanding and supporting me until then.

She continued, "I agonized over this for about ten days, so I decided to just honestly respond to my heart. I called him to ask for a week’s time, and he really patiently waited for me. While we were walking in the park, we decided that he will stop being In Hyun’s Man and start being Yoo In Na’s Man instead. I truly like him. I believe I have found certainty. He gave that to me, so now we are starting a beautiful relationship."

She even showed concern over his health as she said, “Ji Hyun Woo if you’re listening, quit smoking like you promised me. Smoking is bad for you.” When a listener responded, "Ji Hyun Woo-ssi, are you listening? Thousands of people are listening and watching you", she playfully said, "I think someone will come and tell me if you don’t keep your promise", arousing laughter to the radio booth.
